Round 20: #1 Den Bosch is defeated by Feyenoord

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Den Bosch (15-2) in Rotterdam on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Feyenoord (9-7) 82-72. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard CJ Jones (196-98, college: MTSU, agency: One Motive Sports) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and the other American import forward Jarrid Rhodes (198-95, college: Missouri St.) who added 21 points during the contest. Finnish point guard Edon Maxhuni (188-98, college: LBSU) responded with 15 points and 7 assists. Feyenoord maintains fifth position with 9-7 record. Den Bosch at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. Feyenoord are looking forward to face Den Helder (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Den Bosch will play against Groningen (#4) and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Leiden. Fourth ranked Groningen (9-5) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging second-ranked Leiden (14-3) 71-69 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Leiden. The winners were led by forward Willem Brandwijk (204-95, college: IUP) who scored that evening 9 points and 13 rebounds and Donte Ingram supported him with 16 points. Even a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds by Danish center Asbjoern Midtgaard (213-97, college: GCU) did not help to save the game for Leiden. Groningen maintains fourth position with 9-5 record. Defending Dutch champion Leiden keeps the second place with three games lost. Groningen will play against league's leader Den Bosch on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Leiden will play against Leeuwarden and hopes to get back on the winning track.

They keep the ninth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Brussels. Leuven Bears will meet higher ranked Kangoeroes (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Liege will play against Limburg United (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 20: Hague lost to Leiden on the opponent's court 66-80. Zwolle managed to outperform Den Helder in a home game 99-98. Leeuwarden recorded a loss to Yoast Utd. on the road 94-83.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 14 points, 5 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals by Nate Britt of Yoast Utd..



Leuven - Liege 78-62

One of the most interesting games of round 20 was a derby match between two teams from Belgium. Fourth ranked Leuven Bears won against visiting Liege (2-12) 78-62. Leuven Bears dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Liege's 30 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Liege 47-29 including 20 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Solomon Young (203-98, college: Iowa St.) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import point guard Joshua Heath (186-94, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists. Four Leuven Bears players scored in double figures. Point guard Brieuc Lemaire (194-92) produced 12 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and center Justin Kohajda (207-96) added 4 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Very expected game when 11th ranked Hague (1-16) was defeated on the road by second ranked Leiden (14-3) 80-66 on Wednesday. Leiden forced 23 Hague turnovers. American guard Jhonathan Dunn (193-98, college: S.Nazarene) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Lithuanian Deividas Kumelis (188-95) produced 16 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and American-Kosovan power forward Arben Camaj (206-94, college: Columbus St.) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Leiden have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending Dutch champion maintains second position with 14-3 record having just three point less than leader Den Bosch. Hague lost fifteenth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 16 games lost. Leiden will meet Leeuwarden (#6) on the road in the next round. Hague will play against Zwolle (#3) and hope to win that game.

Very predictable result when third ranked Zwolle (11-5) edged at home 9th ranked Den Helder (5-12) 99-98 on Sunday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Zwolle made 28-of-36 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game, while Den Helder only scored ten points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was American forward Noah Dahlman (202-89, college: Wofford) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Icelandic guard Thorir Thorbjarnarson (198-98, college: Nebraska) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Zwolle players scored in double figures. Stan Van Den Elzen (195-0) produced 35 points (!!!) and Luxembourg forward Ben Kovac (196-0) added 24 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Den Helder's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Zwolle have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 11-5 record having just one point less than leader Den Bosch. Loser Den Helder keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with BAL Weert. We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Bemmel where 6th ranked Leeuwarden (8-9) was defeated by seventh ranked Yoast Utd. (7-8) 94-83 on Sunday. Yoast Utd. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was point guard Nate Britt (185-94, college: UNC) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals. Forward Jett Speelman (201-94, college: Denison) chipped in 20 points. Point guard George Brock (183-95, college: SUNO) produced 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Ryan Logan (200-94, college: Stonehill) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Yoast Utd. and five Leeuwarden players scored in double figures. Yoast Utd. have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 7-8 record. Loser Leeuwarden keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. Yoast Utd. will meet at home BAL Weert (#9) in the next round. Leeuwarden will play against the league's second-placed Leiden and will have a slim chance for a victory.
